Hurricane Sandy

Hurricane Sandy
With backup generators humming, a fresh stock of food supplies on hand, and a handful of employees hunkered down in rooms for the duration, The Conwell Inn did all that it could to prepare for the effects of Hurricane Sandy.  Ultimately, we were extremely fortunate to escape the storm without any damage or loss of power.  Our hearts truly go out to all of those, especially in New York and New Jersey, who were not so lucky, and will feel the effects of Sandy for quite some time.
It’s times like this when we feel the need to power through, and work with those who are having a more difficult time.  Due to cancelled flights, suspended public transportation, and for all intents and purposes an absolute closure of everything on the East Coast, many guests were stranded with us for a handful of days.  Discounted rates were extended to those who needed to stay unexpectedly, and cancellation fees were waived for all of those who just simply couldn’t make it in…all 78 of them!
Natural disasters are a true test of character for anyone involved, and it seems as if the Conwell Inn is no different.  Suffering no damage, we were able to step up and help where help was needed, in any way we could, from afternoon cookies, to giving the people the security of knowing they had a place to stay as we weather the storm together.
Many thanks to our remarkable staff, including some that were here for 40+ hours straight, and best wishes to all of those that stayed with us, that their families are healthy and safe and that their lives are slowly returning to normalcy after this historic event!
