Hopeful 2012

Hopeful 2012
As the winter holidays come to an end, we begin a promising New Year here at The Conwell Inn! This blog will be dedicated to the changes and amplifications to be expected at the beginning of and throughout 2012. You can surely expect to call further in advance to book rooms for any occasion as our 22 boutique hotel rooms are in high demand these days and we are anticipating our busiest year ever! Thanks to our loyal guests, tremendous staff, and partnerships with some of the most reliable online booking websites, our influx of reservations is sure to increase. Don't wait if you are planning on coming in 2012 - CALL US TODAY!

Some major adjustments will be made to the ambience of each bathroom as we await new, yet still traditional, wallpaper. This change is sure to brighten each and every room! Additionally, we continue to make every effort possible to remain "green" and do our part to save our ever-changing environment. We hope you will notice and appreciate any changes we have made in this effort. We also hope you will send any suggestions our way to help continue to improve this important reality!

Last but not least, there will be some temporary changes regarding our Front Desk staff! It seems we have several world travelers on board who are all venturing to South America this spring! Joel is currently travelling all across South America and we unfortunately can't track him down at the moment, but we are eager for him to come back and share his experiences with us. Also Katelyn and Lindsay are travelling together to Argentina for some time to teach English to children in an impoverished section of Cordoba. They are very anxious to begin their journey, but we are sure they will miss The Conwell dearly. Look forward to pictures and updates from Joel, Lindsay and Katelyn in the upcoming months!

We wish everyone a very Safe, Happy and Healthy New Year!
Love, The Conwell Inn

10 Reasons Why Our Guests Keep Coming Back

In no particular order, we present ten reasons why our guests love coming back to visit!

  1. Great Location! We are centrally located on Temple University’s beautiful main campus. We are also minutes away from all excitement Philadelphia has to offer in Olde City and Center City!
  2. Public Transportation is very accessible from our property. We are located four blocks away from the regional rain train that will bring guests to and from the airport and Amtrak 30th St. Station. We are also only two blocks away from the subway line that will take you directly into the heart of Center City Philadelphia.
  3. Our hotel has a unique historic style décor. With English style mahogany furniture in the rooms and the walls tastefully decorated with paintings, guests are inclined to relax in a cozy atmosphere. Also our solid wood doors, 9 foot ceilings, deep windowsills, and the beautifully styled draperies add an elegant touch to the impression of each room.
  4. We are very proud to say that we have an excellent front desk staff! They always go above and beyond to make the stay of every guest a great experience! It is rare that you will see anything less than the highest rating on our guest survey cards.
  5. We are a great safe haven for families and friends who have loved ones receiving services from Temple University Hospital or Shriners Children’s Hospital only two miles North on Broad St. Being close to those you love really matters and we are more than happy to assist in making that possible.
  6. Unlike most hotels in the Philadelphia region, we are indeed a pet friendly hotel! Next time you’re traveling, you won’t have to worry about leaving you pooch alone at home. We will have a dog bone, or even cat treats for our feline fanatics, waiting in the room!
  7. The most commonly used phrase amongst guests when they describe The Conwell Inn is “home away from home”. This is especially true for Temple University families who come to visit their sons and daughters in college.
  8. All of our guests have access to Temple’s outstanding fitness facilities with a nominal fee as well as the indoor pool at Pearson Hall.
  9. Fresh Start Breakfast! We offer a complimentary breakfast every morning between 7 and 10 AM. This consists of cereal, juice, yogurt, oatmeal, fresh fruit, and toast with butter and jam.
  10. We have heard time and time again in a jovial manner, “We come here just for the cookies!” Everyday between 3 and 7 PM we offer fresh baked cookies and serve them in the lobby along with a variety of teas and coffee. When you walk in the front door at check in, let the aroma of the freshly baked Otis Spunkmeyer chocolate chip cookies lead you in to a great Conwell Inn experience.

Hello & Goodbye

 Hello and Goodbye
This week at the Conwell Inn we are saying goodbye to our General Manager, Erin Fitzharris. She has been with us at the Conwell Inn for 8 years and has been General Manager for nearly 3 years. Her hard work and dedication over the past years have really set high standards for our boutique property. As we have just celebrated our ten year anniversary, we look forward to the next ten years with a solid foundation that Erin has humbly granted us. We thank her for all she has done for her employees and guests, and we wish her much success in her future career!

When one door closes, another opens, so as we say goodbye to Erin, with open arms we welcome our new General Manager, Justin Walsh! Justin was the Front Office Manager at the Best Western at Widener University, one of the Conwell’s sister properties. We look forward to what his enthusiasm and passion for the tourism and hospitality industry will bring to The Conwell Inn, its guests, and staff. Welcome Justin!

10 Years and Counting!

Welcome to our new blog spot! The very first thing we
wanted to post is the recognition of our 10 year anniversary!

The property on which the hotel stands was built in 1893 as one of the original row homes of Philadelphia. When Temple University came into existence, it was adopted by students and became one of the first fraternity houses on campus. Nearly 100 years later, Temple University Police took control of the “fraternized” building and made the property their central hub. In 2000, Teres Holdings LLC took over all of Liacouras Walk, but did not open The Conwell Inn until September 7th of 2001.

So here we stand today, a 22 room boutique hotel, in the middle of historic Temple University’s main campus. Since the hotel has been open, we have made 59,553 reservations. Our clientele ranges from a menagerie of Philadelphia tourists from all over the world to Temple University parents, professors, interviewees, and even Temple University Hospital and Shriner’s Hospital patients. Our exceptional front desk agents are more than accommodating for all of our guests and are also very knowledgeable of Temple University and the Philadelphia area. Because of this, we often make lasting relationships with our guests as they continue to stay with us anytime they are in the area. The Conwell Inn’s mission is to provide exceptional hospitality services and unique lodging products to our valued guests. We offer a 100% guest satisfaction guarantee which we carry out through our commitment to our core values:
Integrity: We will maintain the highest standard of conduct in all our actions.
Teamwork: We will work together in a coordinated effort to achieve our goals.
Individual Worth: We recognize and respect our individual team members and their contributions.
Consistent Standard of Excellence: We will consistently provide our guests with a superior quality product and make a conscious daily effort to be better than our competition.

Personalized Guest Service: We will meet the specific need of each guest with a professional, friendly, prompt, courteous, and enthusiastic attitude from all staff at all times.

Frequently guests say that the Conwell Inn is their home away from home, especially for the parents coming to visit their children who attend Temple University. They are often comforted by the quality service we provide and are put at ease during a stressful transition in their lives. Not only have we worked hard for this result over the past ten years, but we strive to go above and beyond what we have already accomplished throughout the next ten years. The next time you look into visiting Philadelphia or beautiful Temple University, remember that The Conwell Inn will be your home away from home.

                                                                                                                Love,
                                                                                                                  The Conwell Inn
